Principal's Message for the Week of 2-11-19
 Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Fort is strong.  Following our district championships in athletics this past month, our Pates continued their forward momentum through competition in art, Oral Interpretation, Pep and Cheer, and Destination Imagination.

We had three Fort Washington art pieces proudly displayed at the Fresno County Martin Luther King, Jr. art reception this past week.  The students received ratings between good and superior for their artwork in the MLK art contest.  Our Oral Interpretation performance of The Not So Boring Story of Humpty Dumpty earned a Superior rating at the Paul Shaghoian Performing Arts Center.  The audience erupted in applause following their performance.

Our Game Cheer, Competition Cheer, and Competition Pep teams performed this past Tuesday night at the Clovis West area Spirit Night.  The entire gym was full of school spirit.  Our Pates overcame their nervousness and performed with much confidence.  Every cheerleader was supportive of one another cheering for our teams and for our neighboring feeder schools.  One of the highlights of the evening was being able to see the caliber of the cheer programs at Kastner Intermediate and Clovis West High School.

We are all so fortunate to experience opportunities such as athletics, and visual and performing arts at the elementary level.  It lends itself for students to try something new, explore these activities and gain a foundation that will allow them to grow from.  From the words of author Jack Canfield, “Don’t worry about failures, worry about the chances you miss when you don’t even try.”

Sincerely,

Melanie Hashimoto
